Addition of Wool Carpet to our Showroom

We picked up a reasonably priced, all natural wool carpet that is great for alergies and green-conciouse buyers. They have different "levels" of green concerning just the carpet, or the fibers underneath, so that several price points are available. In some cases it is the same price as other mid-grade nylon carpets! These sheep are actually sorted according to wool coloring and bundles together! The products are completely recylclable and are meant to last a lifetime! Wool is flame retardent, anti-static, bio-degradable, 1/8 of the energy used to produce plastic fibers, its a natural insulator, it absorbes noise, acts as a natual filter improving indoor air quality, its non-alergentic, its soil resistant because of its protective outter layers, and wool can be bent and twisted 20,000 time without breaking. Wool naturally resists, hides and releases soil and stains, and naturally recovers from flattening. Not to mention how soft and beautiful it is...but everybody has always known it preforms the best....

This is what the company says
" Nature's Carpet consists of a variety of different qualities so that you can have an eco-friendly, sustainable home without sacrificing style.

Nature's Carpet is made of 100% New Zealand Wool, a rapidly renewable resource. The backing is made of jute, a natural fibre, held in place with natural rubber latex. The result is an ultra-low toxicity floor covering which actually improves indoor air quality for your health and comfort.

This beautiful and durable product comes in several styles that will suit your needs. It meets and even exceeds the high standards demanded by both the environmental movement and by individuals with high sensitivity to chemical toxins."

Tis' the Season!

Honestly, January and Febuary are snooze-fests in the flooring world. Everyone is cold in San Diego, recovering from the holidays, and gearing up for taxes....but MARCH! March and April are Spring Cleaning! Its time to clean out the closets, get your home in working order and get ready for SUMMERTIME! For lots of people, that means take care of projects you have been putting off, like your FLOORS! Tax returns help top off that savings for your project:)

Today I wanted to present a flooring that was introduced years ago, but is just getting distribution together in southern California, and we are excited to be displaying it in our showroom.

"Lyptus® hardwood products offer versatility, durability and elegance that will enhance any room in your home. Lyptus derives from fast-growing eucalyptus trees cultivated on well-managed plantations and harvested to sustainable certification standards, making it an environmentally-responsible hardwood"

This new species of flooring is available in six colors, here are a few colors of this beautiful floor.

Let the Information Flow....

Our primary goal here at Geneva is to know all we can about our products, so that we can help YOU compare and select your floor. There is a lot to know about different hardwoods and manufacturers and finishes, the levels and aspects of "green" flooring, the durability and price and value on each product. We try to bring in new products that are alternatives to hard-surface flooring (such as Marmoleum, Karndean, and Flexitec) for options on price point as well as maintenance and durability.

I have created this blog so that I can put information out there on new and old products, how to differentiate, and, hopefully, have interactive conversations with anyone with a flooring question. These blogs will also be posted on our website, along with other useful information.

I will start my first entry with a little background on our company. We are located in San Diego, CA and we only do local business. We do not ship across country or have the ability for you to browse our products online. This is more of a resource for information, and we would be happy to show you around the showroom to select samples. It is a family-run business, my name is Lisa and I run the company with my mother, Judy. We are here six days a week and have had stores around San Diego county for 30 years. We have two installation crews and a sand and finish crew, to refurbish old floors.

Please, ask any question you like, I would love to get a response on any of my posts. And tell your friends about my blog! If there is one thing I know, it is flooring. Though most of my blogs will be about hard surface, I have a big black book and answer just about any question you might have.
